Cowichan Valley
It's a Lifestyle, Not a Destination
All About The Neighbourhood
A Westcoast Gem
Known as the Warm Land, the Cowichan Valley takes its name from the valley’s original inhabitants, the Quw’utsun people who named the valley “Quw’utsun” after the Hul’q’umi’num word “shquw’utsun” which translates to “to warm one’s back in the sun”. But while the land is warm, for those who live in the Cowichan Valley, the pace of living is chill and unhurried with many quiet and unspoiled spots to enjoy year-round.
Cowichan is home to the warmest year-round temperatures in the country, being located in Canada’s only maritime Mediterranean climate zone. Home to amazing artisanal food and drink from local farms, wineries, cideries, and distilleries, Cowichan also boasts a vibrant array of activities from concerts and festivals to outdoor activities like biking, hiking, fishing, camping, kayaking, and more.
Apart from its tourism, Cowichan is a great place to call home, full of friendly people, fresh air, and beautiful scenery. If you’re looking for a new home or to move to a quiet, peaceful and temperate part of the country full of opportunity, consider the Cowichan Valley.
